I work on MobileTracking because the parental control apps I tried first would not say what they could and could not see, and the ones that would were built to hide from the child. We set out to build the opposite.
I write the pages on this site on the phones in my own house — a Samsung Galaxy A-series and a Pixel, both on Android 15. When a page says a setting sits three taps deep, I counted the taps. When a page says a feature cannot do something, it is because I tried it and it did not.
I am not a security researcher and do not claim to be one. What I have is two years of living with these tools in a house with a teenager and a nine-year-old, and a strong dislike of software that overstates itself.
- 70 pages on this site
- Every page is written, edited and checked by a person — see our editorial standards.
The pages are long on purpose.
Each one says what a feature shows, what it never shows, and what to do when it goes quiet.
