How to Save a Word Document as an Image

Saving a Word document as an image can be incredibly useful for sharing or presenting content in a more visually appealing and accessible format. Although you can’t directly convert a Word document to an image file, there are straightforward methods to accomplish this by first converting the document to a PDF, then to a JPEG.

Save a Word Document as an Image

This guide will take you through the process on both Windows and Mac, as well as using online converters.

Method 1: On Windows

  1. Open the Word Document:
    • Double-click the document you want to convert into a JPEG to open it in Microsoft Word.
  2. Save the Document as a PDF:
    • Click File in the top-left corner of the Word window. A pop-out menu will appear.
    • Click Save As from the menu on the left side of the page.
    • Double-click This PC in the middle of the page to open a File Explorer window.
    • Select a save location by clicking the desired folder on the left side of the window (e.g., click Desktop to save the file on the desktop).
    • Click the “Save as type” drop-down box at the bottom of the window.
    • Select PDF from the drop-down menu.
    • Click Save in the bottom-right corner of the window. Your Word file will now be copied to a PDF file in the selected location.

        • Windows: Double-click the ZIP folder, click Extract at the top of the window, select Extract all, and click Extract all when prompted.
        • Mac: Double-click the ZIP folder and wait for it to finish extracting.
